Artist Statement:
I do not intend to produce art with my camera; life is art everywhere that I look. I manipulate what the camera captures into my interpretation of art. I have not been without my camera since I was in grade school in Houston, Texas. I feel that I can capture a perfect moment in time anywhere I go.
My work tends to focus on people, animals and city scapes. Capturing beautiful moments on film allows me and my audience to relive that perfect moment for all eternity. Sometimes it takes hundreds of snapshots to get the perfect picture. I do whatever it takes to make a moment perfect in time. I have spent thousands of hours in the dark room creating special moments in time. My photos are truly a reflection of who I am: creative, spontaneous, seductive, calculative, funny.
The speed at which this world is evolving fascinates me. It is incredible that we are at a new crossroads in mankind's existence, as the baby boomers are retiring and a newly evolved man is stepping into place. I enjoying taking pictures of the newly evolved ”indigo children,” capturing their point of view and different way of thinking.
I see beauty and excitement in everything. Animals, pets and the relationships and bonds that people develop with their pets is a fascinating perspective with which I identify, as I grew up with pets and have housed everything from fish and gerbils to Roxie the raccoon, alligators and dozens of dogs and cats over my lifetime. Animals give me an inner excitement when I get that perfect connection captured on film.
My photographs speak for themselves and whatever it says to the viewer - there is not a wrong or a right message, . Each person takes something a little different from the same picture and I'm happy with that.
Influences
My influences are first and foremost everything I see, feel and experience through traveling. I have always been influenced by the artistry of the black and white photography masters: “Ansel Adams” and “Victor Skrebneski.” I truly love magazine ads and the art that is created from them “Calvin Klien”
